Mouse Hoodie!

I made another hoodie, the sister of the dino hoodie!

This onw is grey fleece and grey t-shirting and I added tiny pink and grey mouse ears to the hood!

And of course, a teeny tiny mouse embroidery!

Dino Hoodie

I made some small adorable gifts and I love this hoodie so much!

It's green fleece with grey t-shirting for the ribbing and a little embroidered dino patch!

And of course, dino spikes all down the back!

I hope the recipient likes it as much as I do and don't worry, a grown up size one is in the works!

Harry Potter Huffle Puff bag

I made this as a present for an online swap and I love how it turned out!

Cotton drill, embroidered and then turned into a little bag!

Gingerbread House

I was lucky enough to be invited to a Gingerbread House Icing party last week!

Unfortunately our gingerbread house suffered from sturcutral defects and sho halfway through needed emergency scaffolding applied inside.  Katy Page is an engineering whizz and fixed it!

I iced one half the roof and added vines, a door and a window (as seen above!).

Of course, Lizard was the main decorator!

A New Evening Gown

I (very occasionally) have posh dinners to attend in London!  And I wanted a chiffon overlay dress, so I decided to make one to wear to the next dinner!

The pattern is Simplicity 2398 and I added the chiffon skirt overlay by making an extra skirt front from chiffon then roll hemmed  it down the centre!

Excuse all the selfies, I made this in quite a rush and failed to actually model at any point!  The bodice has a lace applique fan on it as I was attending a Fanmakers event!

This is me on our hotel room just before dinner!  I wore my hand knitted blue chunky shawl, pearls and did my hair in an enormous bun to accessorize!  An d of course I took a fan (cream lace), but I seem to have failed to get any pictures of me with the fan and dress!

And here I am at dinner with a Pikeman!  I really want to learn how to use a pike now!

Machine Embroidered Bag

Apologies for the lack of post on Monday, life got away from me a little (as it is wont to do at this time of year!).

Here's a bag I made to hold a Christmas present, didn't it turn out pretty?  I love this pattern so much!  I'll show you the contents another time though, as I've got more of these to give out!

Princess Olaf Dress

I can never resist an interesting project, especially when wistfully asked for by a beloved small person and so I present to you the Princess Olaf Dress.  Just the thing for turning 5!

It's made of cotton lawn and t-shirting for the sleeves, with plastic buttons to be Olaf's coal.

It has a whist satin waist ribbon and plain buttons on the back to fasten and was well recieved by a very excitable birthday girl!

Proud Godparent Moment

Normal Service will be resumed on Thursday, today I just want to tell you I saw Lizard perform in her first ever ballet show on Saturday and I was bursting with pride at her performance!

Here is my star ballerina after her show!

As a bonus here's a picture of her watching Royal Opera House Ballet videos on youtube and earnestly explaining them to a picture of her Big Best Friend.

Lizard - I am so very proud of you!  Love you so much!

Sunflower Dress Mini Me

Clearly, the best way to accessorise your new dress is with an adorable matching small person, right?

Lizard refused to stay still though, so you'll all have to wait for better pictures in the spring when we've planned a photoshoot for both of us!

A Sunflower Dress

I got this fabric ages ago, in May I think!  It was already to warm to contemplate sewing it though, so I tucked it away and let ideas simmer and on Saturday when I wanted a quick project just for me it sprang into mind so I made it into a lovely dress!

I'm not entirely sure what the fabric is, it's lighter than a sweatshirting, but thicker and heavier than a t-shirting!

The bodice is Alabama Chanin and the skirt was drafted by Katy for me some time ago and remains my favourite shape!

It's a lovely warm dress, but it feels so sunshiney with the sunflowers all over it!  I'm in love!

As you can see, it is a dress that encourages spinning!

Frock Coat Mark 2

So, long term readers may think they've seen this before and that would be because, in as much as possible it is identical to a previous frock coat I've made.  It's owner liked it so much he decided he needed two!

It's black cotton velvet, trimmed with green satin ribbon and plastic buttons.  the lining is faux silk.

Given that both he and I need to check carefully to see which is the original I'd say I fulfilled the brief pretty well!

As we are  now reaching the point in the year where I've started work on Christmas gifts, so I may have less to show you for a few weeks, but fear not I'm still crafting!

Seal at the Ballet

There are cuddly toys all over this house and every once in a while Lizard gets really into one as a companion for a specific thing.  Right now it's a seal tsum-tsum of mine which is the only acceptable friend to take to ballet.

Normally Seal wears a 'balletard'  (Lizard's word for it) and practise skirt made of a scrap of Lizard's on kit but as they are about to perform a show and I wanted an evening of making something silly, Seal got a new outfit...

Mr Kit rather rudely (and annoyingly accurately) suggested that Seal now looks like a shuttlecock!

Seal has a white balletard, a white dress net tutu (decorated with silver glitter glue) and a 'halo' donated by Katy Page Designs.  He's now totally ready for show day!

Tiny Ballet Costumes

I've made a few more outfits for my ballet school's Christmas production!

Here is Lizard, kindly modelling them for me!  She doesn't actually get to wear these on Show Day, but she's definitely enjoyed checking on my progress as I sew!

The dress is a modified version of this dress, I drafted my own sleeve pattern and added extra fabric at the sides.

It does up in a cute bow at the back and has elastic gathering the sleeves!

The shorts are this pattern and I've used buttonhole elastic for the waistbands to make them as adjustable as possible.  The original shorts I based this off have elastic gathering the short legs in, but whilst I've left a small gap in the seams in case that's a neccesity, I have currently left them ungathered as I think these look sweeter!

In case you are wondering, Lizard is doing her best ballet moves here, hence the blurriness of all the photos!
