Finally Finished Valentina's Kit

By the simple addition of a bag to hold all my ic and ooc junk!

Nothing very exciting to say about this, other than it's used up a few more scraps!

All Hail the Glorious Leader!

Possibly.

So, in our vampire larp, my clan are being shot down atm, politically and my npc (kinda more a dpc at this point, lets be honest, the GM's are the bestest!) was feeling more than a little vulnerable.

What better way to make your position more secure than a little toadying?  Seeing as I have the ooc skills to match my ic skill set and a sibling who can translate stuff into latin for me I figured a was all set...  So I made our dear Consul Maximus a present!

The Latin is a translation adapted from ecclesiastical Latin and reads 'for the greater glory of the master'.

The picture is a colouring page, that I enlarged, printed out, cut up and spent a long time cutting tiny bits of fabric and bondaweb for...  I then stuck it all down, machined over every piece and added hand stitched detail where needed, plus a few beads.

The roses are my clan symbol and handily a nice touch.  I used this tutorial and some of the gold scraps I'd used elsewhere on the banner.  The leaves are a ribbon I had!

And here is the Consul Maximus (aka The Gentleman Gamer) himself, with his banner!  Yes the charioteer has been given his hair and eye colour, as near as I could recreate from fabric I had on hand!  You can tell this is after the game, because he's smiling and not about to bite head head off for impertinence....

Birthday Owl!

I have a lot of friends who like owls...  I have to say, parting with this one was a bit of a wrench!

So tiny and so sweet!

I used this tutorial.  I used babycord scraps to make the bidy and tummy and added a little felt circle on it's bottom to hide the gathering circles.  I also used double buttons for the eyes and it's half full of lavender.

As soon as I get a spare few minutes I'll hopefully make one or two for myself!

Reusable Bag and Little Pouch

I had some spare time, iron on transfers and scrap calico.

So this happened!

It's currently living in my handbag, for when I go shopping in town!  Because I was having fun I went on to make a pouch for Ossia, so I have somewhere to keep my potion bottles!

Ok, so it's an antelope (I think?) rather than a deer, but close enough for a scrap pouch I feel!

Cosplay Castiel

I would like to start this post by saying I have no idea who Castiel is!  But my Lil' Sis does and she's off to an American con of some sort soon and she wanted a cosplay outfit.

This is her outfit in it's entirety (minus shoes!).  She bought the trench coat and tie on line and the shirt came from Pepperberry.  I made the skirt and waistcoat!

The pattern is McCalls 7056 from the archive collection.  It's made in black suiting (as is the skirt) and has four black plastic buttons, which is the only pattern modification we made.  The original has about seven tiny ones but that sounded like a lot of faff!

Fitting the waistcoat was quite tricky, but that's as much down to our family hourglass shape as anything.  I was impressed at the range of bust options and I would quite like to make this for me in the future!

The skirt is also McCalls.  My old favourite 5431!  We altered the pattern by drafting some slightly smaller pockets so she has some where to stash her phone and purse, but other than that left it as is.

She's wearing a petticoat underneath it, which accounts for it's volume!

It took two days (and a lot of grumpy shouting on my part) to get this sewn and fitted, but I'm really pleased with the end result.  I really hope you have a great time in America Lil' Sis!  Send us a postcard! X

Doily No 2!

Yeah, I'm still filling in what little free time I have with crochet mandalas!

This is the Granny Mini Mandala pattern.  I used a 4mm hook, cotton yarn and it took me about three evenings.

I didn't like it when I'd finished it, but the more I look at it, the more I've come to love it!

Hearts

Last month was Valentines Day and I made Mr Kit some new lavender sachets (we live in constant fear of moths so I make a lot of these!)  to make them a little special I made heart shapes with a pretty cut out section!

This tartan is leftovers from an apron I made him a few years ago for Christmas and the button was originally acquired for a skirt project that got aborted.

This tartan is one of the Graham tartans and we used it as an accent at our wedding, so it's quite special to us!  The button came as part of a selection pack,

Both hearts are entirely hand stitched.  They are filled with stuffing and a couple of teaspoonfuls of lavender buds.  Quite a fun sew and I would definitely think of making them again as gifts!

Not to be outdone Mr Kit and my beloved Stepdaughter ran up a few heart shaped offerings of their own whilst I larped!

Cinnamon and raspberry jam hearts!  Very tasty, these did not hang around long!

Long sleeved T-Shirt

In winter my work wardrobe consists mostly of jeans, long sleeved tops and the biggest jumper I can find!  With that in mind I thought I'd use up some of my t-shirting on a long sleeved top for me.

I don't think this is a 4 way stretch, because it clings a  little too unflatteringly in places!  Still, I love the colour and the swallows are cute.   The pattern is the alabama chanin t-shirt with the bolero long sleeves.

I did the bottom hem and collar band in a slightly different to usual way, having been reading about binding stretch fabrics in my Great British Sewing Bee Book.  I love with way of binding!  I plan to do all bindings this way in the future as it's a much neater finish!

I love the length of this top (long tops are a must when you work with small people, it stops tiny cold hands being placed on your bare midriff when you're crawling around trying to tidy up toys...)

That;s all of this fabric used up and I'm nearly at the end of my t-shirting stash.  Which is a huge shame because I wanted some new summer dresses.  We may have to see if I can persuade Mr Kit that I'd rather have fabric than an Easter egg...
